Welcome to College Corner Seniors!
This newsletter will go out to you every two weeks with important updates so please keep an eye out. The College Corner will be related to the college application process, college & career events available in our community, vital scholarships and financial information, and a host of other things. Welcome to semester two! The majority of the work is done but there is still lot to do. We want to thank all of you for working so hard to finish your applications. Congrats to everyone who got accepted to schools. This is the product of your hard work! If you have not heard back yet, do not fret. Schools go at different paces so there is nothing to worry about.
Reminders
Some schools are asking for SRAR (Self Reported Academic Records). This requires you to log into the school portal using the credentials they emailed you and report all your classes from 9th grade. Also, If you see an email about a missing recommendation letter or transcript, please notify us.
If you were a transfer student, CUNY may say your application is incomplete due to various reason so please come see us. It is vital you check your emails and read them thoroughly.
FAFSA or TAP may reach out for verification or request change. Please make those changes ASAP!
If you have not submitted your FAFSA, please bring the proper documents ASAP and know the required information.

FAFSA requires a parent account to sign the form. You must create an account for a parent or retrieve the account if they have one.
Scholarships
1) Hispanic Scholarship Fund - $500- $5,000
Deadline: February 15th, 5PM
To be eligible:
Must be of Hispanic heritage
U.S. citizen, permanent legal resident, or DACA
Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for high school students; minimum of 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for college and graduate students
Plan to enroll full-time in an accredited, public or not-for-profit, four-year university, or graduate school, in the U.S., for the 2023-2024 academic year
Submit the FAFSA or state-based financial aid forms (if applicable)

2) LGBTQ- The Live Out Loud Young Trailblazers Scholarship - $5,000
Deadline: February 27th, 2023
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Part of LGBTQ community
B) Have demonstrated an impact in their community through leadership

3) Be Bold- No Essay Scholarship - $25,000
Deadline: March 1st.
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
Be a high school senior

4) A Bold Mind - $1,000

A) Interested in pursuing psychology
